1 month old baby with blocked nose only at night - any thoughts?

My four week old baby has developed a really blocked nose the last two nights. I thought he was going down with a cold but has been fine during the day. I'm wondering what else could be causing it. Could it be an allergy? I've today taken off the woollen blanket I had between his mattress and sheet. He sleeps in a side car cot so I'm also wondering if he could be reacting to our feather pillows and duvet. But none of us have similar allergies and we have a cat which he shows no sensitivity to. Any other thoughts?

I had this with Dd - She was stuffy for about 8 weeks after birth.( now 23 weeks) I used little drops in water by her bed - from boots. Most aren't suitable for < 3months old but these were. Seemed to help. I also questioned the allergy thing but she 'grew out of it'

I used a plug-in device from Boots recently (hardly noticeable smell) which cleared up DD2's blocked nose.

I'm giving up dairy because my bf ds of 9 weeks has reflux. I've found he's less snuffly at night as a result. Apparently dairy in your diet can make bf babies more mucusy.

WobblyPig what were the drops you used? And Cristina can you give more details of the plug-in device? Were they for humidification?
(Taking the wool blanket out didn't work and he was snuffly again last night...)
Would like to try those before going down the route of giving up dairy if I can although I've heard from others that can be effective in some cases...
