Having gotten fed up of the bumps on DS arms and legs decided to have a google and found this. I will be amazed if it isn't this. DS is just 2. DH has exact same thing but with the red spots too. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I have this- as do my Dad and brother and I suspect my DS will have it too. It is a bit of a nuisance but not painful or itchy. I would just leave it alone, tbh, although moisturisers might help a bit. I use various scrubs on mine but I wouldn't on a 2 year old.

Ah right. I had no intention of really doing anything to it. have read a lot of people have got rid of certain foods from diet and this has helped. DS also has a bit of a dodgy bowel too you see, so this has led me to wondering....

Have you ever tried this avenue? DS was a few months old I think before anything appeared then it has just slowly got worse. his arms and legs feel quite dry too.

Some more information about it.

I've got it and so have DSs2 and 3. It is a unslightly and certainly makes me selfconscious about wearing short-sleeved tops in the summer, when a bit of sunexposure would actually help...

But there is worse: DS2 also has eczema and that is much more troublesome.

You never know, he might grow out of it as he gets older .

Try Calmurid cream.

My HV gave me some diprobase for my DS but it hasn't made a whole lot of difference. Someone on here the other week said that Flexitol works but I haven't tried it.

I`m sure I heard or read that Sulphur Soap can be good for this.

wow! Thanks for the responses!! I'm impressed, wasn't expecting any really.

I have this, as does my 5 yo Dd.

Creams containing Urea are supposed to help clear it, someone on here only a couple of weeks ago mentioned that they had found hard skin remover cream for feet helped alot!!

Mine has gotten loads better as I've got older, Dds is quite severe, but its purely cosmetic.

maxybrown · 28/09/2009 15:17

Thanks for that. DH's doesn't bother him but his looks much fiercer than DS's I have to say. It's just when you rub his little legs and you think they'll be nice and baby soft they are all bumpy!!

Ahh, bless him, still gorgeous I'm sure!!

alypaly · 28/09/2009 17:41

try lacticare made by stiefel laboratories . The pharmacist may have to order it in.It is about £8 but well worth it

maxybrown · 28/09/2009 18:04

ok thanks, will give anything a go. It has def got worse. DH just home and showed him. He agrees - he thinks that is what both he and DS have.
alypaly do you use that yourself?

no i dont actually have the condition myself. I used to work as a medical rep selling skin products to GP's and hospital dermatology departments.
Had a look at the condition on the internet and it said the hair follicle becomes ingrowing and the follicle gets plugged up.
Lacticare has a mild salicylic acid in it and is used for allsorts of dry and hyperkeratotic skin conditions. I have alsp used it as a moisturiser as it ir harmless.
The mild acid may unplug the skin...worth a try and as you can but it over the counter it is obviously not harmful.BTW you can also get it on a prescription. Ask doc and see what he says...anything is worth trying
