It started on Friday 18th with bad diarrohea (sp.?) all day, then he seemed OK apart from lack of appetite, then on Tuesday he had bad runs again. Since then still no appetite, nasty yellowy poo and he was sick on Thursday night. Doctor seems unconcerned. Told me on Friday he thought he'd recover over the weekend, but he still looks pale, tired and still isn't eating much. He's also lost weight and I'm quite worried about him.

How long can these things last? He is drinking loads but eating very little.

hi there

my ds has had this, took about 10 days to 2 weeks to get over it - now just back to normal. dr said prob nothing to worry about but has sent poo sample to lab, results later this week, but ds is fine really. perhaps go back to GP if no improvement after it's been 2 weeks or if your ds stops drinking?

Yes, was considering taking a poo sample in to the doctors. Thanks for your help, it's reassuring it can last up to 2 weeks so we'll hope for the best. Not sure whether or not to send him to playgroup though. Doctor didn't seem to think he was contagious...

ds has been going to nursery school and they've been changing his (horrible ) nappies there, and have made no comment - as ds didn't have constant runs, just really horrid yellow loose poo more frequently than usual, I didn't have this down as a normal d&v type bug, also I haven't caught it.

If your ds is well in himself I would let him carry on as usual.
