How old is DS? Do they know why he is having seizures?

evaangel2 · 19/09/2009 01:08

he is 3..they suspect childhood epilepsy but I assume they will run tests to rule out other things

You would find lots of help over on the Special Needs section

They may run tests to investigate further.
You will/should be given advice about bathing; swimming and how to supervise such activities. Also how to manage a fit and administer meds if necessary. When to call for medical assistance if fit not stopping.
Also important to discuss things with childcare and school.
Fits may occur in particular circumstances e.g. when stressed ; when feverish or otherwise unwell or may be provoked by flashing lights e.g. on TV. The latter can be tested for.

There are a number of support groups - start on the internet or through the hospital.

Thats very interesting, he is quite a lively boy but lately is becoming aggressive and gets himself very stressed with dh &I and his toys get him angry...I have mentioned this to my HV who is really supportive..the tv is also an interesting thing, we have cut that right back.
