OMG, it just gets worse. Spotty rash on front and tummy, vivid red solid rash from shoulders to mid back resembling sunburn. WTF!

mad4myboys · 28/08/2009 19:07

sorry to butt in but if it was me id go back to see a doctor, i understand about not wanting to go to a&e.Can you ring out of hours gp? If they send you to hosp you wont have to sit and wait hours?

Poor you riven.

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 28/08/2009 19:08

you still have to sit and wait. Thing is, if we keep her awake past her bedtime she will start fitting. If she's woken from sleep she will start fitting.
argh.
will call on-call doc and see if they can visit before midnight.

OP posts:
mad4myboys · 28/08/2009 19:20

such a /horrible situation. Maybe if you explain the situation about her being up past bedtime etc hopefully they'll prioritise her?Hope it goes ok, let us know how she gets on

DesperateHousewifeToo · 28/08/2009 21:09

Could it be scarlet fever?

Dd had this a few weeks ago. Has she got a strawberry tongue?

Dd starting with a high temp on a sunday night. Rash appeared on wed am, I think. Required ab's. She was verry poorly

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 29/08/2009 07:32

took her to the out of hours. He didn't know what it was either. Some sort of viral rash and take her to A&E if it gets worse. Its now all over her front and back. She looks like she's been sunburned! Bit whimpering but not to 'poorly' and temp is down.

OP posts:
FlightHattendant · 29/08/2009 07:35

Sunburn rash sounds like scarlet fever or poss some kind of TSS??? Unlikely if temp down I think. Poor Riv

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 29/08/2009 07:43

whats TSS?
Isn't there a thing where a high temp is followed 2 days later by an all over rash? forgotten what its called.

OP posts:
FlightHattendant · 29/08/2009 07:47

I think you're thinking of Roseola, but the rash isn't sunburny with that. Tss= toxic shock syndrome, that tampon thing. But I think her temp would still be way up and she'd be v poorly if it was that.

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 29/08/2009 07:48

I am wondering stevens-johnson now. Will check her when she wakes up.

OP posts:
FlightHattendant · 29/08/2009 07:48

btw it isn't just a tampon thing..it can arise from strep infection.
Scarlet fever sounds much more likely. Hope she continues to feel better x

FlightHattendant · 29/08/2009 07:49

SJS not sounding likely tbh,

'[edit] Symptoms
SJS usually begins with fever, sore throat, and fatigue, which is misdiagnosed and usually treated with antibiotics. Ulcers and other lesions begin to appear in the mucous membranes, almost always in the mouth and lips but also in the genital and anal regions. Those in the mouth are usually extremely painful and reduce the patient's ability to eat or drink. Conjunctivitis of the eyes occurs in about 30% of children who develop SJS. A rash of round lesions about an inch across arises on the face, trunk, arms and legs, and soles of the feet, but usually not the scalp.[1]'

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 29/08/2009 08:06

she has one ulcer on her cheek (inside) and has red eyes. Rash is now all across her back and patches over her tummy and chest. She's still alseep but doesn't feel hot any more.

OP posts:
FlightHattendant · 29/08/2009 08:17

Let us know how she goes later on...thinking of you, it's yucky for you not knowing what's going on.

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 29/08/2009 08:32

well there's a thing. Just got her up and the rash has gone from chest and back and is now on legs and arms. Things just get weirder. Her temp is down thoguh but she's still gaggy and doesn't want to eat.

OP posts:
FabBakerGirlIsBack · 29/08/2009 08:49

Are you going to phone the doctor?

I hope she is soon better.

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 29/08/2009 08:51

probably not. Having seen 5 HCP's (and been mummed to death ) I cant face another one saying they can't find anything and its a non-sepcific viral infection.
She seems chirpier but just looks like she's been dipped in red paint.
I'm wondering if this is a good reason to cancel the in-laws tomorrow

OP posts:
FabBakerGirlIsBack · 29/08/2009 09:08

Definitely!

It is for their own good in case she is infectious.

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 29/08/2009 12:47

They are coming to see ds1 but he's just announced he's off out. I've told him to call them!

OP posts:
FabBakerGirlIsBack · 29/08/2009 12:51

Quite right too.

And fancy only coming to see one GC.

Riven, if you don't want them to come, cancel. Life is too short to do anything you don't want.

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 29/08/2009 12:54

its cos of his GCSE results. They care deeply about stuff like that.
What they haven't realised is its ramadan and I don't cook during the day and ds wont be here.

OP posts:
FabBakerGirlIsBack · 29/08/2009 12:57

Someone needs to tell them or they might get snotty about a wasted journey.

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 29/08/2009 13:12

I have told ds1.
