Eczema in my 2yr old daughter - help!!!

My 2 year old daughter has been suffering with eczema for the past few months now (although it feels like years!!)mainly on her legs, top of feet, and lower back and I was wondering if any one out there could suggest any creams / treatments. I've gone down the doctor route, and as a result have been covering her in various different creams - Epaderm, Doublebase, Aqueous cream, Oilatum bath additive and Steroid cream (this does work for a day, but eczema then returns, plus not too keen on giving that to her - thins skin etc) soooo, after searching the good old internet, I got wind of a 'magical' cream from a shop called Lush - 'Dream Cream' At £9 a pot it's not cheap, but I'm willing to pay if it works - and it does according to customer feedback on Lush's website . However after a week I'm now starting my second pot but it doesn't really seem to have any effect.... which is a real shame, as it's made from natural ingredients - an avenue I'd like to pursue. The lady in the shop said my daughter may be allergic to the tea tree oil in it, and suggested putting rolled oats in a hessian cloth and patting over her eczema.....Has anyone ever tried this?? Would really appreciate advice anyone has to give!

I tried patting dampened rolled oats on my 5mth-olds face at bathtime and it really worked. Did it religiously once a day and saw an improvement really quickly (maybe after 2 applications). Then kept going for about 6 weeks. Worth a try!

My niece has terrible excema and my SIL eventually found some good results using Weleda products. They are all natural and really worked for DN. She felt the same as you in regard the continued use of steriods. I think it's in most healthfood shops and some Waitrose branches.

We use Emulsiderm(on prescription)which goes in ds2's bath and then Aveeno cream,for rubbing into the dry areas.Have found both very good.

I started by making a little bag out of gauze and putting the oats in there, but that got too fiddly, so I ended up just soaking them in water and patting them on his face at bathtime. They then got in the bath and after pouring the bathwater out, I learned that leaving them to dry and then sweeping them up was the easiest way to handle. Let us know how you get on - I hope you have some success..

dream cream is fab for all sorts of skin complaints

and when dd's eczema was bad i would stop bathing her, soaking in the water seemed to aggravate it no matter what we used.
