Can it take more than 2 days for anti biotics to start working?

17 month old has tonsilitus. He is not eating much, has high temperature and is VERY ratty with it.
He got antibiotics from the doctor on Monday morning so has taken 2 full days worth so far and there is no real improvement...
It is a 2 week course.

Should I give it another day or take him back to doctors?

Give it another day - they usually advise 3 days to see an improvement

just got antibiotics for my DS who has a throat infection and doctor said 3 days before symptoms are alleviated.
