Is DD likely to be allergic to wasp stings with this reaction to one yesterday?

2.7 yr old DD got stung on her cheek and hand at about 4pm yesterday

Her cheek went red swelled up and her eye went puffy. Her hand didn't really react (though it may not have been a full sting - I saw the sting on her hand).

This morning her eye and cheek is still a bit swollen (noticeably but mild).

Is this a normal reaction at this age or is it a bit more than usual? I know it's usually by the 2nd or 3rd time that the big allergic reaction occurs if it's going to and I'm a bit worried.

My dd was stung round her eye and it swelled up badly. I don't think she is allergic, I just think that it is a more sensitive area. I was adviced to give piriton. I hope she is OK soon

I don't know, tbh, but ds also got stung on his hand yesterday. Lots of wasps about I think.

I wonder if it was purely that it was her face iyswim? His hand didn't swell either, just went a bit pink/white round the sting, and I read that it's usually the second sting that makes them react properly.

If you think about it it takes 6 weeks for antibodies to be made so it'd not really be possible for her to show an allergy already - or maybe there's other info pertinent that I don't know.

Forgot to say that she was about 1 when this happened.

Blimey, there are a lot of wasps about - DS2 got stung 3 times on his back on Wednesday . Very red and rashing around the stings, but no puffiness.

BS - it does sound like the puffiness is due to her being stung on the face, hope she is ok, but if in doubt, it just might be worth giving your dr's a ring this morning just to check?

I gave her piriton yesterday but it was more of a consoling medicine.

It could be that it was because it was her face.

I think I might start carrying piriton around with me just incase! It would buy some time perhaps if the worst happened?!?

I read somewhere once that if you take Piriton the first time you get stung it reduces the risk of developing a permanent allergic reaction - so you have done exactly the right thing. I think it's probably wise to carry some around for now if there are lots of wasps in your area...
