can i give my ds a dose of medised then calpol 4 hrs later?

or should i just stick with medised? Hes full of cold plus teething and hasnt slept properly for a few nights. I know theyve chaged the guidlines again on ages but hes had it before and the bottle ive got says 2 years old. I rarely give it unless i really need to.

ah good wasn't sure if id get flamed for giving medised at all to an under 6 child but it is a one off he really needs some sleep bless him and is so snotty nosed. Still dont understand why theyve changed the guidlines can't belive thyve upped the age to 6 now.

I know how you feel about Medi-sed. It can be so useful every so often, but I feel like a 16 yr old in an off-licence when I go to Tesco's pharmacy to buy some!! Plenty of Q's about the age of child; what you want it for, etc.

Just a question to all: do you find it hard to remember how often you can give paracetamol vs Ibuprofen; when's the next safe time to give it; then how many times you've given in 24 hours - particularly when they're poorly/teething, and ESPECIALLY at 2:30am?
or is it just me?

Solidoak - we did have this problem (DH and I would get up in the middle of the night, not want to wake each other and so let poor DS scream for a bit till we worked out who'd given what and when). Now we have a rule that if it's given after midnight the syringe is left on the bottle, before midnight it's put in the sink/dishwasher. So if there is a syringe on the Calpol, we know we can either give ibuprofen or must wait till at least 4am before giving anything else.

Of course it would be easier to kick DH and ask him but he can't remember anything at 3am any more than I can (other than it's too bloody early!)

Ha! Given I'm a DH too, then I need to stick up for the blokes & ask for us not to be kicked, elbowed or head butted - esp, at 3am. I normally get that from my 4 yr old son in the daytime...

It sounds like we're not the only ones struggling with remembering what is safe to give, and when.
I was thinking of inventing an idea that could help with this - something simple that takes the guesswork out.
This would mean we don't overdose our bubbas, yet don't leave them in needless pain.
What do you think?
