Bloody mucus in sniffly 7 month old

My 7m DS has just got a mild cold for past two days - runny nose and sniffles being the only sympoms. Since lunchtime he has had some blood in his mucus on one side - I have checked NHS Direct and a couple of online med resources and they are quite reassuring re nosebleeds but it is 2 hours now and there is still dark blood there.

He is happy, healthy, alert and otherwise fine - he also has very sharp nails (even when short) and is very active (crawling and cruising) and as a result frequently bumping himself. Do you think I should be concerned / go to doctors? I am desperately trying not to be a mum who rushes to casualty with every scratch and sniffle.
