My son is 8 and is having a filling at 11.40am . I only hope he will let the Dentist do it. He has refuses up till now and so the dentist has had to just put a varnishy dressing (like a plaster i guess) over the top of the cavity to prevent it getting any worse. Today is crunch day and i am worried my ds wont go through with it. He is a bit scared as he spent a lot of time in hospital when younger and has had 9 anaesthetics.. The green mask freaks him out and its all so scary for him. I am quite good in these situations but just wondered if any other parent has had this at the dentist and also does a milk tooth filling hurt at all ?? we are told not.... but who knows.?

How did it go?

Thanks for the only reply LLJKK .. it didnt go at all. DS was all nervous and started crying once he was in the dental chair.. so the dentist just knew it wasnt worth a battle. We are being refered to a dentist in another town that does treatment using Inhalent Sedation...
Infact i learnt about this watching Jon and Kate plus 8.. sounds like a good idea. Trouble is my ds underwent a lot of anaesthetics when he was a toddler and he freaks out at the site of masks etc.

Poor lad. I hope the other dentist can make it happen.

A boy aged 9 mentioned the other day that he'd had a filling, and it hadn't hurt in the slightest he said. He's one to shout a bit when he doest get hurt, so I think what you've heard is true, fillings for kids don't usually hurt.
