Mucusy chest in three-week-old, anything to worry about?

DS2 has had a snotty nose for the last couple of weeks, been doing the saline drops/nasal aspirator/raised head of cot etc stuff. I remember DS1 being the same for weeks as a newborn so not concerned.

Today he has started sounding a bit mucusy on his chest -- v occasional cough, breathing a bit rattly sometimes. Otherwise happy, feeding fine etc.

Is this part of the same normal newborn mucusy thing? Or should I be on phone to docs?

my boy was quite rattly but it soon went away - having said that, if concerned definitely see doc.

my doc said if i was asking the question 'should i phone the docs' with a young baby... i should phone the docs. it's probably fine, but you don't take any risks when they're that wee imo. congrats again btw.

Cheers Aitch. He is tucked up in bed now and seems to be sleeping soundly so will see how he goes overnight, fingers crossed it will have cleared by the morning otherwise will call the doc then.
