My dd has come down with a tummy bug. Was sick yesterday morning, then fine all day, eating playing etc. Then last night was sick 2 times during the night. Seems ok now but dont know what to give her. The doctor said only water and rice but as she refuses both I cracked and gave her a bottle of milk. Is this really bad? What should i feed her? Thanks

I have been told when ds1 had the same, that you shouldn't given them anything other than water for 24 hours after last symptom as food/milk gives something for bug to breed on again so you have to starve it til its gone as it were. If she' not drinking, have you tried dioarlyte sachets (ds1 likes the blackcurrant ones)

hope she is better soon

I was told mainly just give them water/fluids it wont do them any harm not to eat for a day or if they do need something then try a banana- not only is is reasonably soft if it does come back up, it has a lot of potassium (i think) which can help them feel a bit better as with tummy bugs they loose a lot of fluids, vitamins & minerals. I agree with loulou33 try diarolyte can get from chemists to replace vitamins etc.
hope she feels better soon.

I was always told never give milk when you have a tummy bug. If DD does not like water then give her some very, very diluted juice, must be realy weak though. Try dry biscuit if hungry.
