12 month old with DDH (CLICKY HIP) - having traction then cast for 4 months - lots of questions.........

My friend's little girl is going into hospital in June for a week of traction, something else then will come out after about 10 days with a cast on. This will stay on for about 4 months.

She's going to ask more but I thought I'd ask on here if anyone else has gone through this as she has lots of questions. Things like:

Can they usually still go in a car seat?
Can they usually still go in a normal pram?

Any other tips or things to think of would be a great help!

Does she have CDH- congenital dislocation of the hip? That's treated with a cast in this way. Have you googled CDH- there's bound to be some stuff out there that can help you...

All I know is DDH. I know there are other places but I personally don't have the time to do a lot of research and my friend has looked certain things up but would like to hear from someone who's actually been through it or knows someone who has Just thought I'd ask on here as usually it's a useful place for questions like this

my dd had treatment for a cdh and was in a frog harness and then a hip spica cast.depends on the age of the child re car seat and pram.have a look for messages by myself and hip spica as have defo given advice before(more detail for you)

I am mum to Siomha born 26/1/2007 - At 14 months (yes MONTHS) she was diagnosed with a dislocated hip (Developmental Dysplasia of the hip) and her hip socket had not formed at the dislocation had been from birth. She was operated on in Great Ormond Street for 7 hours last September. Her surgeon created a new socket from her pelvis.

Please sign a non political petition which is encouraging the Department of Health to meet with late diagnosed parents so ensure what happened to Siomha is rare.
