Yesterday DS had his one weekly session at preschool and when he came home he was itching his head. I checked it and found one little black nit and I guess it had bitten him because there was a tiny bit of blood on his scalp where it was.

We combed his hair with a tight comb and then washed it - just wish normal shampoo its all we had. Then combed again. We havent seen anything else and he has not been itching today. I phoned his school and left a message letting them know in case they wanted to tell any other parents??? I guess you are supposed to do that???

I reacted so funnily though I sat there and went all quiet for about 30 mins I dont know why! And DH kept saying to me "its ok you know" and I was just gutted... there was a bug in my baby's scalp! LOL

I think you just get stunned into silence because your lo has something that seems quite disgusting. They all seem to get them these days. My niece is a louse magnet! always has them.

Sorry, but this is the first of many.

you think nits are bad, just wait till he gets a tick

get a nitty gritty comb. all you need to do is wet comb once a week with conditioner. a lot of the parents at dd's school make the mistake of thinking boys don't/won't get nits, but they do!

i suspect, if you just found one adult louse, and no sign of fresh eggs or empty egg sacks, then he's picked the louse up from someone else. the school should send letters home, informing all the parents to wet comb. your ds doesn't have nits, he has someone elses!
