What to give 10mo to eat after sick/diarrhoea?

DS (10mo) had nasty sickness/diarrhoea on Monday. Until today, was last sick on Monday evening but diarrhoea only slowly getting better.

Had been giving plain potato, toast, rice cakes and banana, alongside BFing on demand and as much water as I could get him in (not much). Last night had a little white fish with plain potato and that went down okay. He seemed ok today, so I gave him chicken casserole for lunch but he gave it straight back to me.

He seems fine now and has eaten a rice cake.

Was I wrong to give him the chicken? What should I do now?

The best thing is the BRAT diet
B - bananna
R - rice
A - apple
T - toast

Sorry posted in eagerness - As long as he is hydrated and getting some food that don't worry all that much. Drhydration is the main concern and if he is drinking then keep going as you are.
I am not a doctor - just old

Giving him the chicken is fine. generally you're advised not to starve children after being ill like that but just take it easy and avoid overly fatty foods. Sticking to "white" things, including SchrodingersCat's BRAT diet is good and he'll get lots of lovely nutrientd with the white fish and mash etc - and keep up the fluid intake.
Sounds like you're doing ok, so wouldn't worry if I were you.
Hope DS continues to improve. My ds4 had Rotavirus last year and was so ill he wouldn't touch any food for 5 days but he got back on track with all of the above foods you and S'sCat mentioned.

Wibbly, I hope your ds is better soon. These things can be awful.

Just be prepared that he might eat you out of house and home once he is feeling better!! My DS went on an 11 day binge once after having D&V. He was eating more than me!

I would second the BRAT thing, and get as many breastfeeds into him as you can.

Thanks everyone - all advice appreciated and noted! Sure he'll be on the mend soon x

I wouldn't worry about food at all as long as he is drinking. When my DD was 13 months old she didn't eat for 9 nine days and the doc kept assuring me it doen't matter as long she drank. She wouldn't drink water at all and he said give her cordial even though it's sweet, just anything to get her take fluids on. She didn't have milk eithe rin that time.

I also would second the brat thing, hope he gets better soon
