Now I know that the initial reaction might by OMG what an awful mother for allowing her child's teeth to decay. That is not the point of my posting....

What I did want to say was that when I first took DS, long before his teeth needed such work, he would not even open his mouth to show the dentist his teeth. He would not even sit in the chair.

Seven visits later (3 of which were 6 monthly usual check ups) he allowed the specialist dentist to drill and fill his tooth.

Not a moan, not a tear, no performances from DS: just a wonderful, wonderful dentist who treated my son so well and gave him the best treatment he needed.

I was so proud of DS and so grateful to the dentist for the way she coached and guided DS. What a woman! And her assistant - just brilliant.

YAY that's a lovely story, my 3 yr old DD has two filings and is going back for another one. Nothing we could have done at all, she just has soft enamel and that's the way things go.

We too have a lovely dentist, she took the time to show DD all the instruments before she used them and talked her through what was happening, DD even laughed at one point because it tickled!

Thanks, Sherby! Good news about your DD too. DS needs another filling and will have that done next month.

Our first dentist told me that DS has chalky teeth and there is not much we can do other than be extra vigilant regards brushing and diet.

I am so pleased that the dentists are so good with the children because I was petrified as a child. I must say that the sound of the drill was not half as horrific as it was when last I needed a filling.
