And today's bad mummy award goes to...

DS got into the cabinet under the bathroom sink, and I found him sitting on the floor surrounded by Vitamin A capsules, playing with them. I don't think he swallowed any because he can't swallow pills and I think the taste would gross him out and I'd have heard him gagging, but I don't know!!! I'm not phoning the local Nurse Line because they're useless tawts, I know more than they do, and I've been on hold to the Poison Control Centre while Googling Vitamin A poisoning in toddlers...

anybody??? Please???

Phone NHS Direct - they have a list of dangerous items.

See here

My DD1 got hold of my Iron Tablets, think they are much more dangerous for children than Vit A.

Don't beat yourself up about it Jacksmama these things happen.

My DD1 was 2.3 when she got hold of them.

I counted them and to my estimate there would have been about 5 missing I had just had dd2,and was BF,so can't have clicked the lid shut properly,as I would remember to take them when I was BF'ing,so would do it one handed!

Everyone assured me it was unlikely she'd take them, although they looked like Smarties.

During our overnight stay in hospital, all 3 of us(dd2 was 2 weeks old),DD1 wanted to use the potty and did a great big Black Poo.So it was obvious she had taken them.

The doctor then said that there could be a elayed response during the next 2 weeks!!!
We had also been transferred to the paediatric Hospital nearby, but we werent allowed to go in DH's car,had to go in the Ambulance, incase DD1 "arrested"

I'm sure your LO is too little to have eaten any.Hope its all ok.

Can you use American numbers?

Theres this one advertised on a Georgia Website.......

National Poison Control Hotline (1-800-222-1222)

Soory all - the computer had a meltdown while I was on hold!! Thank you though - gosh, what a morning!! I did finally talk to someone at Poison Control, and she reassured me that he would have had to swallow 30 capsules for it to be a problem... which he clearly didn't. Phew. Then she asked why I took me an hour to phone and ask about it - gee, that would be because that's how long I was on hold!!! Anyway... I'll be going to throw those capsules out now!!
