Molluscum (again) in a very sore place :(

So, ds has had molluscum for 2 months now and what started as a small patch has spread all down one side of his body and now into his nappy. I took him to the hospital walk in centre last week as his willy was very red and swollen, and we were given antibiotics to clear up what they assumed to be an infection called balinitis (sp?). They hinted that his cloth nappies were the problem. I haven't stopped using them, I wash at 60 and change frequently so I don't see why disposables would make a difference. The problem now is that he has spots all over his wills and scrotum Before this infection he had some on his lower belly that were diagnosed as molluscum too, and now they look like weepy wounds, as do the new ones. Could these be molluscum do you think, or should i take him back to the hospital tomorrow for another look?

aah...Molluscum are a real pain as they take months (no scrap that - can be over a year!) to heal. While all you can do is wait, drugs don't work but they are contagious and seem to pop up elsewhere on the body. The don't weep though until they are ready to 'go' so it sounds like yours have not been around long enough to be weepy?? there are some good websites showing images of molluscum they are quite obvious with their waxy raised spot and a'head' in the middle.

I have not heard of them being on the willy area, my kids and others I know have them on their trunk and limbs.. it has to be worth a visit back to the docs for you as they are in such a sensitive area... god luck.

Thanks MrsFreud. I think I am going to have to take him to the GP tomorrow and see what they say. He's had such bad luck with his skin
