spots on tongue- tell me it can't be that bloody molluscum :(

Ds has developed spots on his tongue today. He is 10 months old and over the last few months has had molluscum spread rapidly over his arms and torso. He seems to be quite poorly, he is certainly teething badly, but these spots just look different to any that I have seen before. They look like definate raised spots, just like the molluscum in fact Can he even get it there??

I don't think they can get it there as molluscum is localised to the skin... but I'm not an expert! It could be some other kind of virus... I'd take him to the drs to check everything is OK.

belgo, yes he is dribbling lots but that is hardly novel for him
Thanks, will google hand foot and mouth. Am I right in thinking that he should be kept away from people if that is the case? Bugger, we were around some elderly relatives yesterday.

see what the NHS website says regarding keeping him away from other children, you may not have to. Most adults will be immune as it's a childhood illness.

Littlelamb - how are you treating the molluscm. Its a nightmare istnt it. It has now spread through all three of my children and nobody else appears to have had or heard of it. I am trying thuja and zynaderm? Got to get dinner ready but will come back to look for replies.

My ds had blisters on his tongue - turned out to be hand and foot. Could even be chicken pox.

frrogwatcher, we are just leaving it alone. Noone irl has heard of it, despite the GP and HV both telling me how common it is, but there seem to be a lot of people on MN who know of it. HV said to go to a herbalist, but they are so expensive and there's no guarantee it will work. Ds's have spread from a tiny patch in his armpit to all down his arm, torso and now his nappy. We did find a lovely moisturiser in neals yard but it doens't treat the spots, just keeps the skin less dry. I don't know what to do about it now. I doubt the GP will be open tomorrow but I do want him to be seen as they are odd little spots

My dd 15 months has had little spots on her tongue that I assumed were ulcers. They appeared on saturday and seem to have disappeared today!! dd did not sleep for 3 nights as she could not suck a dummy. She has been drooling like mad and seriously irritable with some tantrums.
I went to gp who said they were not ulcers and then told me she couldnt help as dd had a single measles jab instead of MMr and that it may be a side effect.....and I had to speak to the dr that did jab! Pretty sure they are not related.

All very worrying but she seems better today and I guess it was teething or a virus. Hope Ds gets better soon.
