Argh, Ds seems to have another scalp infection

Just before (or after, i forget) xmas, Ds was poorly with a scalp infection, temp, general cough and cold.

He had antibiotics for a week and we started using t-gel shampoo. It took about a month for the infection to fully dissapear though.

He has a had a bit of a snotty nose and cough this week and then today he has said he could feel something in his hair again and sure enough he has a tiny yellow scabby, inflamed patch on his scalp.

Last time he had it the doc said he didn't think it was ringworm and wasn't 100% sure what it was. He tried the antibiotics firstly and i was told to go back if things didn't improve and then they would try and anti fungal. The scab did start to get better though so we just carried on with the anti b's.

Why does this always seem to accompany cold symptoms though ?

I am going to try and get Ds in at the doctors tommorow and see what they think this time.

Meant to add that we carried on using the t-gel, and are still using it now.

Hi - late reply but think my DD has this. She has mild cold symptoms but bad bad rash on scalp.

Doc said it was dermatitis and gave us coal tar shampoo which seemed to make it worse. Then got all infected so on ABs.

I am convinced it is ringworm. It is very thick flaky scale, a bit yellow and sure some hair has dropped out.

Interested to know what your doc said on last visit.
