Scary scary scary doesn't being to touch it. He has reflex anoxic seizures fairly regularly so we're 'used' to seeing him stop breathing but this was something else.

He had a chomp on a sausage as he's done a hundred times and it just got stuck. Luckily he could get a bit of air in round it but was making the most awful noise and trying to cry and staring at me to help him.

I did remember my first aid though, whipped him upside down, walloped his back and after a few attempts and a bit of vomit out it popped. Can't believe I didn't hurt his back but he's absolutely fine now.

Awful awful experience but I am sooo glad I brushed up on my first aid !!!

It's amazing how you stay calm in the heat of the moment, sort them out then collapse isn't it? ds is an absolute horror for doing this - he's done it 3 times now and each time as I've had him upside down shouting cough cough cough I've been thinking "this is it, this is it, oh god oh god". And each time the little menace returns calmly to eating whatever it was he choked on while I collapse on a heap on the floor. Last time it took a stiff gin and a cigarette to sort me out (once he had gone to bed), and I haven't smoked in 5 years .

You poor thing. Take some deep breaths and congratulate yourself for doing the right thing.
