DS1 (2.8) is going in as a day case in mid may for squint surgery.

Can anyone recommend a good book to help with explaining etc about going to hospital, all the people etc?

I've got an Usborne one - it's pretty good.

Hope he's OK

The hospital should have a little booklet for children that helps explain what happens. My son went in at around the same age for day surgery - found it difficult to explain at that age. Might be worth speaking to a play specialist at the hospital to maybe go in for a chat / play beforehand, so at least your son is familiar with the surroundings.

We found the anaesthetic to be the worst part for our son - so some play / chats about that might be worth thinking about.

The Little Princess has a book about going to hospital- which might help.

thanks everyone - we were thinking of the usborne one.

the paed centre is where our paed is based so ds1 has been there on numerous occasions before.
