oh God, my DD (10 mo) has just fallen and has a cut on her face, she was sitting on the changing table and just toppled off and caught her face on the edge of an open drawer. I was right next to her and caught her before she hit the ground but she has a horrible cut just below her eye (oh God could have been so much worse, I am so upset ). She is fine, she had a good scream for a few seconds and then settled and now is back to normal.
Do I just clean the cut and leave it? or a plaster? I have no idea, God my DH is going to kill me, please give me some advice

I'd take her to the GP (or ring NHS Direct). All babies fall and it sounds like she will be just fine - try not to worry

What would you do if the cut was on you? Stitches? Or just clean up.

If in doubt see your GP / A&E.

I feel for you though, it's horrid. My Ds fell at our local library at 6 months and bashed his nose and had a nosebleed - I was terrified!

I'm sure she'll be fine though, and don't take any grief from your Dh either, these things happen.

You wait till she starts walking.....

aww, poor thing

banies do have accidents and it only takes a second

she sounds as if she is fine now, it is often the shock that makes them cry worse

all you need to do is to wipe it with a piece of wet cotton wool and then leave it uncovered, it will heal quicker if you do

if it is just a sratch, it will heal fine

if it is deeper and you think it might need stitches, then take her to the GP
and don't blame yourself, accidents happen

thanks, just called NHS direct and the nurse was so lovely and reassuring, you're right, it's nothing of course... It's not deep enoug for stitches, it barely really bled so I've cleaned it up and now it really is just a small cut but being just below her eye it looks terrible. She is completely fine, it's me who is hysterical. How will I cope when she starts throwing herself down the stairs??

Call your GP and make an appointment to check it out - you may need to have the cut glued to prevent scarring.

x-post

Great to hear it's nothing much!

My DD got two little scars on the bridge of her nose when she was in her first year of pre-school - I was very annoyed as they were identical and she obviously bumping into something at school. But they are fading with time.

My DD did fall down the stairs at 12 months, from top to bottom

I rushed her to the hospital and she was fine, not a mark on her

but very, very scary
