Diagnosed tonsillitis 10 days ago, looks like slapped cheek now

16 mth old DS was given antibiotics 10 days ago, 7 day course as he had puss in back of mouth, high fever and inflamed tonsils ... doctor said was tonsillitis.

antibiotics got rid of general unwellness and temperature, but last couple of days, ds has a developed all over rash (like pin pricks, not a 'lacy' rash) and bright red cheeks, which looks like slapped cheek, from looking on google images (they look sunburnt to me).

he is fine in himself, no other symptoms (since 10 days ago when he was quite unwell).

but from looking online, fever associated with slapped cheeks comes about a week to two weeks before the visible symptoms. could those symptoms have been mis-diagnosed as tonsillitis? it seems a bit odd to me that they are unrelated?

thanks

Roseola?

thanks babbity, but would it be 10 days afterwards that the rash appears? also his cheeks are really bright and blotchy pink.

thanks for posting. crikey these rashes are all so confusing!
