My 3yr old DS has been ill since last Saturday, It all started with a runny nose and a temp which I gave him some Medised for.

Since the age changed on medised last week we have switched to Calpol for the temp and karvol drops for congestion. He now has a persistant cough which is worse at night, His eyes are runny and I have to bathe them in the morning. I tried on Thursday and Friday to get him a doctors appointment but they didn't even have any emergency appointments. And now 1 yr old DD seems to have the same thing.

He's obviously had colds/coughs before but just when you think this one is getting better it comes back worse than ever.

How do you treat your little ones when they have colds? I phoned NHS direct and they said if i'm overly concerned to take both DC to the out of hours surgery.

I usually give mine honey dissolved in hot water/milk. It seems to cure the cough and eases the congestion. I also rub baby balm on his chest and back which makes breathing easier. I also keep vaporiser on for few nigts.

These are just some remedies that i do and works for me. You can try them. But if you see they are struggling too much in breathing then you should goto A&E as it might be chest infection.
