sore throat in 6.5 month old?

My ds2 has a bad cough but after coughing sometimes starts to cry out in pain. I think he has a sore throat if its the same as me and my dh had. Has been a bit off his milk and solids aswell which is to be expected. Just wanted to know if there's anything to give for a sore throat as too young for honey and lemon. (Already doing stuff like steamy room etc and karvol,vapouriser for cough and stuffy nose.)
Am also giving calpol sometimes (maybe 1 a day) but doesnt really seem to have a temp so trying to see if there's an alternative.

Hello, I phoned the health visitor regarding this yesterday as my ds 3.5months has a terrible cough and also cries out in pain after coughing but there is nothing they can have at this age. Apparently a lot of cough medicines have been withdrawn from sale recently as they weren't safe I think. She advised me to just give him plenty of fluids. Poor things it is heartbreaking isn't it.

Might he have a throat infection? DS has had a few and he goes off his food and cries. Needs antibiotics to clear if it is an infection.
