It sucks really. We had lots of fun things planned for the week, dp has taken the time off and everything. Poor DS has got a bad cough which he can't shake, home anti biotics are not working so it looks like 2 weeks of hospitalised i.v's. Its really pants.

Oh Charlee, I am really sorry for your Ds and yourself. How old is your poor DS?

Sounds awful. Hope you little DS gets better...and perhaps you should have an official birthday like the Queen once all teh problems are over...and the weather is better.

CharleeInChains · 06/03/2009 13:59

Well we were going out to dinner on the Tuesday so now it will have to be swapped to a takeaway delivered to the ward.

We were going on day trips in the wekk as the hospital is quite boring, they do thier best but after 2 weeks we have done everything, watched every dvd and played every game!

Is there a possibility fo you to stay with him in hospital? It must be very hard for all of you!

CharleeInChains · 06/03/2009 14:02

Yes i always stay with him. We are well known on the ward which makes it easier as there are always friendly faces around. They always makes sure he has the biggest room with the dvd player! They also let him pain the room each time he goes in so its a bit more homely.

Does he have to have long stays everytime?

CharleeInChains · 06/03/2009 14:28

Not usually.

What happened was.

DS has Cystic Fibrosis and he was on alot of medication including 3 monthly i.v's which were done at home.
At his annual review the dr's decided in thier wisdom to stop his iv's and his nebulisers. I wasn't happy with it but they said it would be fine.
2 weeks after stopping everything dp grew pseudimouous (sp?) which is particuarly nasy with cf.
SO now after 3 weeks of oral antibiotics they have decided that he need iv's to clear it completley and since he is unwell they will have to be in patient ones.

I do know very little about Cystic Fibrosis so I have done a quick google search before I show too much ignorance. I was not aware it was inherited and that it could affect so many organs.

Sorry, what does (sp?) mean? I have seen that several times on Mn but cannot guess the meaning of it.

CharleeInChains · 06/03/2009 19:42

I put that when i don't know the spelling of the word i have typed before!

Oh, poor ds. Have the docs realised he DOES need everything they reckoned he could do without?

Hi what bad luck. We were only in for 2days and that was bad enough!

last time we were in for longer and we did this.
got some dvds and books from the library. stories on cd..

can you borrow a lap top?

My dd played on her DS a lot, maybe swap some games with a friend before he does go in?

Do they have a play therapist? - this time dd did play dough in her room and hamma beads - all organised by the play therapists.

Wallace · 07/03/2009 13:54

Oh, how rotten for you

Best wishes x

CharleeInChains · 07/03/2009 13:58

I do have a laptop but they have no sort of wireless internet, i suppose i could take it for solitare!
DS is a bit to young to be playing DS or PC i have tried with Cbeebies and toddler 'games' but he doesn't really get them.

Thet do have a play therapist but the poor lady is all by herself at the oment the 2 usual play ladies are both onmaternity leave!

Hopefully rhe dr's have no realised that he needs the medication but we shall see when i talk to them on Tuesday.
