Child has bad cough at the minute - what do you recommend giving her?

DD had a temperature on Monday - now it has developed into a cold with a horrible cough. She is in good form and wants to go back to school but the cough is terrible. What do you give your DC when they have a cough. All I have given her is spoonfuls of honey and she has been eating and drinking well. She is 6. Should I keep her off another day - she wants to go back and seems in good enough form. Thank you in anticipation.

Honey and Lemon juice and hot(ish) water alwys works well as well as the honey. Its what I give all the kiddies. Also make her sleep on an extra pillow so her head is elevated as this well help stop the coughing while she sleeps.

Thank you LouIs, I will try the lemon tomorrow along with the honey. She is determined to go to school but I'm not sure if its wise for me to send her - I suppose its best to wait and see how she is in the morning. Thanks again
