DD (12mo) had MMR a week ago - but now there is a suspected case of measles at nursery

Has she had long enough since the vaccination to have any protection? What is the incubation period for measles? She is perfectly well at the moment - so can I relax and assume that she'll be fine? Also, even if she is fine, could she be contagious - just spent the weekend with her cousin who is 4mo?

Hi, my 2 have just had measles, and they have had their 1st MMR, apparently they're not neccessarily 100% protected until they have the 2nd vaccination at the age of 4. The incubation period is around 2 weeks. Not sure if She could still be contagious without actually having it herself. Hopefully she doesn't have it, my too were pretty poorly, good luck! xxx

Nursery have now said that the child who has it is in the other baby room. Which is a relief for me but not for the other poor parents obviously. The advice is for her to have the second dose as soon as possible, ie. 4 weeks after the first. According to NHS Direct up until about a year they've got a lot of mum's immunity left (doesn't explain why the child who has measles is an unvaccinated under 1 though!) so nephew should hopefully be okay. 2 weeks feels like ages...

Anyway, I hope your two are feeling much better now - it must have been awful for you.
