Toddler's legs hurting at night

Ds is 2.6 and for the last couple of weeks has been waking up in the night crying and saying his leg hurts (mostly the right one, sometimes the left). Occasionally he will say it at other times but almost always at night. I have had a good look at and poked and prodded and cannot see anything wrong, not even a bruise where he might have banged it. He bounces around completely normally during the day.

We are seeing the health visitor next week so I will mention it then, but just wondered if others have had the same problem. My mum mentioned growing pains but I wasn't sure if those really exist or would be at this young age?

TIA

My ds who is now 7 has had this since he was tiny. We were also told it is growing pains. If it wakes him up we give him calpol.

My ds and dd both had this and got the old growing pains from the gp.

What did help was when I attended baby massage and the lady running it said she did the leg massages to her older son when he had achey legs . I sometimes massage their legs when we are chilling out before bedtime and it does relax them .

Other than that calpol or a nice warm bath.

DD did wake up this morning though and said "Ow my arms are growing" .
