Has anyone elses DC had repeated ear infections (apologies if this is common).

Mine started with Mastoiditus and had to go to hospital at the start of Nov, he responded well to IV ABs. But since then has had another five ear infections. The GP has us going in at the first sign of one, high temp etc. due to history.

DC is then put on either amoxycilin (sp?) or augmentin duo. What happens is that symptons clear, DC has a week of good health then another ear infection starts.

DC is currently on 10 days of ABs. We are being referred to ENT, but was hoping for some advice/ words of wisdom.....i.e it gets better....??!! [hopeful emoticon]

Not as often as your dc

But dd had numerous ear infections... ended ub on ABs a lot, cleared up for a bit then would return

Took her to a homeopath in the end. I've no idea if it was effective but she hasn't needed ABs since (had a couple of infections that have cleared up on their own). Worth a shot?

my ds was pretty much the same as notnowbernard's. I consulted a nutritionist who helped us cut out dairy and add pro-biotics and vitamins etc to boost his immune system. they need help to get their systems back up and running after the constant antibiotics!

My daughter had constant ear infections, like every couple of weeks then had mastoiditis too, was on IV antibiotics etc. They put a grommet in the bad ear and ever since she has had no bother in that ear at all but still gets ear infections in ear without grommet. Ask your GP or ENT doc if this might help. hard to see your baby go through op but its worth it!

try keeping off dairy. My friends little boy had the same thing & she has taken him off dairy. He has goats milk + goats cheese (full fat) & since this has been fine.
He was given some icecream the other day & ended up with a pus infected ear & is back on the ab AND the dairy-free diet.
I think they do grow out of this intolerance.
