Cut in a funny place on finger - seems to be getting a little infected. WWYD?

Dd (18 months) has a cut on her finger. It is on the inside of her finger and just where the finger bends IYKWIM.

Its in a really awkward place to keep a plaster on, so at the mo I've put a low adhesive dressing on with some porous tape, but being 18 mo, she keeps pulling it off

The area around the cut has started to get red and a little swollen, which makes me think that its getting a bit infected.

Any ideas of how to keep it clean?
Should I be putting anti-septic on it?
Do you think it warrants a trip to the gp's if its started to get a little infected?

I think I would put antiseptic on this, and keep an eye on it. You know roughly how long it should take for a cut to heal - if it's not healing and it gets very red, seeps pus (sorry!) or feels hot to the touch I would go to the GP. Isn't salt water supposed to be good for cuts too (thoroughly dissolved) - I'd recommend you google this to check it out though as I wouldn't want to make it more sore for her.

Defo use antiseptic or a salt solution. Just wipe it regularly with a soaked cotton wool ball, if the infection is slight it should go away in a day or so.

Salt water is good for drawing out infection. How about a dab of vaseline over it when it's nice and clean? That would stop nasties getting in if a plaster won't stay on. hen at night time, let it breathe. Keep an eye and if not better by friday, get someone to take a look.

Thank you.

Will try those and keep an eye on it.
