Slow clotting of blood

This is partly an update on my 9-yr-old DS who gets frequent and severe nosebleeds (I had a thread on this last week) and partly a new question.

Blood tests indicate that his blood clots a bit slower than it should. Because the deviation is small, it's not clear yet if the "abnormality" is clinically significant, so the GP is waiting for a call from the hematologist to find out if it's anything to worry about.

Does anyone out there has any experience with this?

I've still heard nothing from the GP, so I'm bumping this again in case someone has experience of this.

He's had nosebleeds everyday since seeing the GP. Had a bad one on the bus to school today, which continued til he got to school. The boys started making fun of him and saying "why do you always get nosebleeds?" and pointed at the disgusting clot coming out of his nose unbeknownst to him. He also had blood all over his face, because he's quite clumsy and couldn't really control the torrents of blood very well, and was trying to maneuver with his rucksack and his coat (also covered with blood) etc, as was my coat and handbag etc. Poor thing; he's quite bullied at school and what a pity it's apparently impossible for 9 yr old boys to show kindness in front of their peers. Anyway he's having his nose cauterized tomorrow. Perhaps it will make a difference. Meanwhile I'm waiting by the phone for a call from the GP which seems never to come.

Why don't you call the GP? They sometimes wait for you to call as some of them are "too busy"

I have no direct experience of this, but why don't you give the Haemophilia Society a ring on 0800 018 6068. There website is here.
My dh has mild haemophilia but never had nosebleeds as a child, infact we didn't even find out he had it until he was 36 . They may be able to advise you the best way to proceed.
My cousin used to get nosebleeds all the time as a child, but doesn't have haemophilia.
Either way, I think you need to get referred to a specialist.
