So we have all head this head cold/ yucky thing going round but it only lasted a few days with us. I have just emerged from the fog of illness and realised that DD2 has now had a fever for 6 days, over 38 but it comes down with drugs.
She has bad cough, snotty nose (but not clear snot IYSWIM) and has also had a new tooth in this week.
She is generally miserable, whiney, clingy, very sleepy. This is not lke her.

Shoudl I just get her checked over as it has been nearly a week or leave it to run it's course?

hello? Am I completely over-reacting and should just leave it then?

I'd get her checked out. If the fever caused by a viral illness doesn't subside within about 3 days, it could be being caused by some kind of bacterial infection, so needs to be checked out.

Time to see the GP I think.

Took her in, chest is clear, one ear is full of wax (what am I supposed to do with &that^ information!) but no sign of infection.
Doc did hear her cough and saw the luminous snot so gave her some antib's with proviso that it is only because it has loitered so long.
Typically for the first time in a week she had no fever....but I feel better having had her completely checked over, doc was lovely.
thanks.

THat all sounds ok then - well done for taking her

thanks, I hate that 'should I, shouldn't I' thing. Why should I care what the docs think of me!
