Mumsnet always helps me out!

dd (7 weeks) is a bit out of sorts. snuffly and very clingy, overtired despite a long nap this morning (unlike her) and very sucky on her hands. She's been bad at latching on for a couple of days and very difficult to settle at night. Not her usual happy self at all, and quite a few coughs and sneezes.
What do I do? the only "medicine" i can give her is breastmilk, but I miss my cheerful little girl!

no rashes as far as i can see. someone suggested teething isn't it a bit early?

bf will keep her hydrated and snuggled up to, probably just a cold, keep her warm but don't overheat her and maybe check her temp if she feels hot.
think it's early for teething, people put everything down to teething, but you never know i suppose.

can youu check her temp? does she seem hot?

if she has a temp cool sponging down helps

the only thing i would do is cosy her in lots and let her sleep when she wants to and for hhow long she wants to

if she is coughing at night put a pillow under her mattress to raise it a bit and put a bit of vicks vapo rub on a wet flannel on a radiator

or put some vicks or olbas oil in a bowl of water under a radiator

If she is very snotty (hate that word but can't think of another!) have you tried a nasal asparator (sp?) have not used one but HV reccomended one when my DS was breastfeeding and had a cold. Its just a little sucky thing to draw out mucus, also ask chemist about saline drops to clear dried mucus.

Thank you ladies, she's much better now. Fed and cuddled lots and now she's back to her cheery self!
