18 day old DD - lump in her boob and leaking from her nipple?

Hi - my DD has a lump in her right boob and is leaking from her nipple. Also, the nipple area looks a little purple. I am exclusively breastfeeding (and have lots of milk) - is this a hormonal response to my milk in her, or is it something more serious that I need to get checked out?

absolutely normal I think, but check with gp or midwife to put your mind at rest for sure! My dd certainally had lumps, don't recall if discharge too...

It's probably a response to the hormonal surge you had right before you gave birth.
Check it with the HV, but I think it will be fine.

DD1 had this - she produced milk and had a period! It really was quite a shock! I had no idea it was possible! Do just check with the health visitor, but I don't recall there being an issue with it. (Although she was quite sore and needed extra cuddles)
