HELP. Urgent question re calpol and 1st immunisations.

DS, nine weeks, had his first imms today.

2.5ml calpol given as pre-emptive measure at 1.30pm just before jabs.

second 2.5 ml dose given at 6pm.

He is now crying again and really unsettled and cries out if we go anywhere near his thighs.

Given that he weighs around 13lbs, would it be OK to give him another dose? I hate seeing him so miserable and not being able to do anything.

It's been over 4 hours since last dose, so I would too. My DD was terrible with her first imms and was exactly the same with her thighs. Just try and give him loads of cuddles when he needs them tonight and I bet he'll sleep for England tomorrow (hopefully so will you).

thanks wizzywoo. I'm thinking that because he is a bit of a bruiser (above 75th centile for weight) then his system can take it as dosage is worked out on weight isn't it?

Yes, and No

Had a horrible unsettled night with him crying in pain for much of it. He has a bit of a temperature this morning as well and looks a bit spotty, but I really don't want to chance giving him any more at the minute.

Sorry haven't had chance to get on pc and ask before now but how's your DS today? Hope he's feeling better (for your sake too). If it's any help, every time my DD has had a temperature, she's come out in a rash. It still doesn't stop me grabbing the nearest glass and doing the meningitis test on the rash but I'm starting to be a bit more chilled about it now. The first imms are definitely the worst as it's all so new to both of you, they get easier from here on in.

I have a needle phobia and really struggle taking DD for her jabs but I've always forced myself to do it. Last time DH had to take her because of my work (shame!) and DD wasn't really phased by her 12 month imms, although she had a toy in her hand and hit him on the head with it!
