Tiny brown specks appeared on 15month dd, could they be moles?

In the past month I have noticed 3 tiny, almost tea leaf size brown spots appear on her foot and the back of her neck. They aren't raised and don't seem to bother her at all (not itchy or anything) I'm wondering if they could be moles or freckles. I have no idea at what age these start to appear. Can anyone advise?

I have a 15 month old, and have noticed similar in the last few weeks - I assumed they were freckles/moles. Although I was quite surprised when I saw them, I have always been a bit obsessive and PFBish about keeping her out of direct sunlight!

Don't know but interested to hear if anyone else does - dd is 18 months with no moles and as dp and i have lots i wondered if and when they'd show up.

When my DD was about 18 months she suddenly got a few moles on her back. I just noticed them one evening in the bath.

Cwtchy, I know eactly what you mean anout being PFB about keeping them covered up in the sun. I think I worry because dh has prominent moles and I always keep a sly eye on them without him knowing.

Not sure if they just appear... I would mention it to the doc although I am sure it is nothing.

My sister remembers my dad (seriously) trying to scrub off the birthmark on my tummy (I must have been about 4) thinking it was dirt.

This is the sister who tried to take a mole off my shoulder with spit on a napkin in a restaurant when I was about 18 'oh look, a bit of chocolate'.

DD1 was born with 2 moles and now has another 2, one on her arm that came in when she was about 18 months, and one on her forehead that appeared this month.
DD2 has one on her stomach that appeared recently, which I cna safely say is not sun related!
DH's family has a strong ginger gene, DH is covered in freckles, and as such I am a bit neurotic about UV clothing and suncream!

My ds had one appear on his leg when he was about 7 months. We had just been on holiday and I had been obsessive about sunscreen so felt terrible. Didn't feel so bad when a couple of weeks later one appeared on his scrotum and I spent a while trying to scrub what I thought was a stubborn bit of poo!
