DD woke up this morning with a temperature of 39.2 and a phlegmy cough. I gave her calpol I took her to the doc who said her chest sounded clear so just a cold virus.

I gave her nurofen at 2, calpol at 5.30 and more nurofen at 10.30pm when her temp had spiked again to 39.4.

I've taken her out of her grobag too. Any other tips? How often would you medicate? Have I left too long gaps?

You can actually give Calpol and nurofen at the same time just not the same amounts. I normally alternate them every 2/3 hours if they are awake with a temperature. Strip her down to a vest and just put a thin sheet over her. You can also use a cool flannel on her forehead.

We used to use a fan on low and oscilating near her cot when dd was very little to keep the temp down.

I believe the medication can be every two hours (alternating between calpol and nurofen) but not more than the doses stated in any 24 hour period than it says on the bottle for the age group)

I can never get calpol down dd when she is in this state

warm-ish bath and air dry, light sleepsuit, no covers, cold flannel to forehead, lots of bf

she's only really bfing not drinking much else but she did have some baked beans for her tea which perked her up for a bit and nappies are good and wet.
