Weighed ds today. He weighs 3 stone 2lbs.

When he was last weighed over a year ago he weighed 3 stone.

Obv he has grown (heightwise) since then.

I know their weight gain slows down once out of babyhood. Just wondering how much they are supposed to gain on average in a year.

He's slim but I don't think he is underweight. BUt he wasn't chubby or overweight before either.

Not panicking, just speculation btw.

TIA

I've been wondering the same thing. DD (3.11) only weighs a smidgen more than DS (2.4) even though she's way taller than him. In fact, after the bug she had last week, I suspect she may even weigh less than him

ds just turned 3 he weighs 2stone 7lbs

Ds is 4yo btw - I should have said.

You get so much 'guidance' when they are babies on weight and then it stops suddenly.

MA - I have heard of that with other kids - that the younger ones are the same weight or heavier around that age.

I suppose they have pretty much lost all their baby weight by now. No more chubby arms and legs now.

I think ds is the same .. he is nearly 3.10 and weighs 2 stone 9lbs ... has for as long as I can remember. He still has big chubby baby cheeks though. He has probably lost a bit in the last few days as he hasn't been eating with this horrible virus! He has definitely grown as is now about 107cm but his feet haven't grown for about a year!

Have you got the height/weight charts in your red/yellow book?

DD is nearly 4 and has put on a lb this year. She's still only 2 stone 2lbs.

mumtoone · 16/12/2008 21:50

That sort of weight gain does not sound too unusual to me. My ds is 5 and weighs under 3 stone (probably nearer 2.5 stone). He's quite small but growing gradually. He's now at school and the height difference at his age is massive.

TheChristmasArmadillo · 16/12/2008 21:51

seems about normal then.

I have no idea where his red book is - or his exact height to work it out
He's been about average (50th centile) for both for about 3 years so never really paid any attention.

I've just got DD, so these are from the girls' chart. As an example, a girl starting out on the 50th centile at age 3 who put on 2lb over the next would be just over the 25th centile by her 4th birthday. So it's not 'average' weight gain, but it's not really low either.

thanks - ds has problems with food, so doesn;t eat much, so I wouldn't be surprised if he has dropped percentiles.

Still sounds like he would be reasonable weight though.

May measure him tomorrow and double check.

He used to put on 1lb a week as a newborn
