dd 7yrs has very small patch of dry skin, looks a bit like excma on the inside crease of her arm (elbow). have tried E45 and sudocrem but neither seem to help.
What's the best thing to use to soothe irritation?

See the doctor for a small amount of low dose hydrocortisone - this sort of thing can spread and can be uncomfortable.

Alternatively Nelson's homeopathic eczema cream with a breathable dressing on top to promote moist healing - possibly less effective but available over the counter. A more advanced version of this would be to put a fair bit of the Nelson's cream on the eczema, then put a hot wet tubigrip over the top, and a dry tubigrip on top of that. Do this at night time and things might be greatly improved in the morning. It helps it be absorbed through the skin.

We've found Aveeno cream great for small patches. You can get it from the chemist or Boots, or on prescription.

Othgerwise the hydrocortisone cream is good, but you may want to try a milder alternative first.

Elizabeth Ardens 8 Hour Cream is great - we used it for DSs Molluscum Contagious and it has had the added advantage of clearing up his excema - you only need use a little.
