He had a cold about a week ago, with a mild temp. That went and then he came down with this one on Friday.

Have just taken his temp and it is 102. Have given him a dose of calpol, don't have any ibuprofen and can't get to anywhere to buy any now as everywhere is shut.

He won't let me strip him off because he said he isn't hot, but his whole body is bright red.

he wont feel hot, he will feel cold because he has a temp

just the calpol and plenty of fluids will be fine

littleboyblue · 07/12/2008 17:58

Check his temp again in about half hour 40 minutes, as long as it comes down should be fine, even if just 1 degree.
If he has a fever for 48 hours you should get him seen.
I had this the other night, ds was at 103 degrees so called NHS line and that is what they told me.

Thank you

Have just given him some more to drink and he has asked for some porridge although wether it will stay down is a different matter because he keeps coughing.

Is it best for him to sleep in my bed tonight do you think ?? He is 6.

If it makes you happier and more relaxed to have him in your bed then go for it!!

TrinityRhino · 07/12/2008 18:04

he doesn't need to be in your bed
but if he would like it then that would be a nice thing to do
its never nice to feel ill

littleboyblue · 07/12/2008 18:05

It might help you relax a bit more if he's right there?
I couldn't have ds in with me, he's 16m and doesn't like laying in bed with me.
Ask him, if he wants to sleep in with you you could let him, nothing bad will happen to him because you leave him in his own room though. It's down to you and him, if he wants to sleep in with you and you don't mind, why not?

IllegallyBrunette · 07/12/2008 18:26

I would probably feel happier if he were in with me yes, and he loves sleeping in my bed anyway, so will do that.

Have just given him a quick bath and he is now eating a tiny bit of porridge.

Thanks for the advice, I seem to forget what to do between each winter lol.

Well what an eventful night that was.

He spent all night in my bed roasting hot and he was also sick twice. I had absolutly no sleep at all because he was very jumpy and when he wasn't jumpy he was talking in his sleep lol.

I got up this morning and left him in bed and about 10 min later he shouted me and he had diorhea.

Managed to get him in the docs this morning and he has antibiotics for the scabs on his scalp, ibuprofen for his temp and Sudafed for the buckets of snot he seems to be producing.

I am not feeling too great myself right now but am hoping that is just tiredness.

He seems to have perked up a bit since we got back from the docs anyway. Temp is down and he has managed some toast and water.

Poor you and poor ds My ds had tpr of 104 this morning. I took him to dr as wasn't sure if it was viral or bacterial. Dr said he wasn't either so gave me px for ABs but said not to give til Friday. He's got an ear infection and a cough. I've given him ibuprofen which brought tpr down and it'll be snuggles on the sofa for the rest of the day. Hope your ds gets better soon.
