Does this sound like an ear infection to you???

DS3 has had a cold since Monday, yesterday he was pretty miserable, and last night he was awake on and off during the night, mostly waking up with his coughing (don't think it's gone to his chest this time though).

Today he's still pretty sleepy and very runny nose, cough, and tearful. The tearfullness seems to come in bouts, and I've just noticed that while he's crying he's tugging at his ear....................

He's had Neurofen, and tbh I'm not sure if he's got a temp or not (mind you last year when he ended up being admitted to hospital for the day because of a bad ear infection - only one he's had - he had no temp then but was definitely unwell).

Should I try and get a Drs appointment and if so when - try and get one this afternoon - or first thing in the morning???

might not be an infection, but if you can get an appt, i'd take him to be sure.

Well I've been and taken him - it's a chest infection, although his ear was a little red and she said it could quite easily have been heading to ear infection way.

oh good it should kick in for any unidentified infections then , puts your mind at rest tho doesn't it.

yeah it does - last year when he ende dup in hospital for the day he'd been generally unwell for a day or two, took him to the doctors and they said bronchiolitis and as he was quite poorly sent us up to the hospital. When we were there his ear drum burst (while sleeping on me - blurgh) and they decided it was an ear infection that he was so poorly with not his chest.

When she said his ears' a bit red (the one he was rubbing too - and the one that was infected last year!) and that he had a chest infection I thanked my lucky stars that it had been caught quickly as I didn't want a repeat of that.
