Very sleepy 16 month old- nasty cough etc

Just after a bit of reassurance hopefully...
DD is 16 months old. She has a bit of a cold and a nasty cough which she has had for a couple of days. Yesterday she was off her food (thought she was just being stroppy) and then she basically slept on and off from 2pm till 8am this morning. She just wanted to lie with me on the sofa all afternoon (which was actually quite nice!) and wasn't interested in playing etc etc (although had been fine at Monkey Music in the morning).
Managed to get a little bit of tea down her and a quick bath and then she just threw it all up again and went to bed. Slept OK with a few wake ups till this morning. Bit warm but no major temperature.
This morning she was a bit more like her old self but wanted to go down for a nap again a couple of hours after waking up (not unusual). Cough is still pretty nasty.
Sorry- a bit long winded but is it usual for a toddler to be SO sleepy when not feeling well and just wanting to be cuddled. She has never really been ill before and a friend's child has been recently diagnosed with something very nasty so my mind is going a bit into overdrive..
We were away for a long weekend abroad and she didn't get as much sleep as she usually does so am hoping she is just generally run down and feeling a bit rubbish rather than anything more sinister?

My dd was like this last week for a couple of days. She was very hot and red cheeked with it, didnt eat for a week.Just wanted cuddles-lovely! Turned out to be chest infection and antibiotics needed,so maybe get her to the dr? Her little friend had exactly the same too. Hope your dd better soon-it was horrid to see mine so poorly.

My ds was like this for a few days last week slept for hours on end. I did take him to the doctor and he had an ear infection so maybe get her checked over just in case.

Thanks- on hold to the doctor as I type- will probably be able to get an appointment for sometime in 2009....
