Poor Solidgoldboy got accidentally clobbered with a toy ironing board at nursery, and the big toe on his right foot now has a purplish-black patch at the base of the toenail. The toe wiggles all right but is obviously sore: I have given him 5ml Calprofen as it must be throbbing. There is no open wound so I haven't put on a plaster, but I think there's a chance of the nail coming off later - what does everyone suggest?

I always find that Arnica cream helps with bruising.
He may need to not wear shoes for a day or so, but I would think it should be fine. The toe nail might not come off for weeks.
