I have never had a coldsore neither has my husband or DS. What would happen if he cought it? Could he die?!

IIRC the risk is mainly to newborn babies as they haven't got a fully developed immune system yet. I'm sure there's very little risk to a healthy 11mo.

thank you. i had never heard of the complications with the herpes virus before and there isn't much info about when it's not so much of a risk.

The risk from my understanding is small HOWEVER please do not allow this child near the baby - cold sores are a horrible unpleasant nasty thing to be stuff with for the rest of your life. As you can probably tell I get them, caught from my dad when I wasvery little. I ahve scares on my chin from scratching them when I was little.
