dd has just started walking, albeit very slowly.

She has a kind of sway if you like when she walks. Also has what looks like an extra little roll at the top of one of her legs.

Am taking her to gp tomorrow but thought i'd ask here on mn wisdom

I think most children sway a little when they first start to walk - think it's just them getting their balance. Has your DD had all the routine checks on her hips? My sister had an undiagnosed Dislocated Hip until about the same age, and had also started walking on it, but this was in the early 1960's when I don't think there was routine screening as there is now. When she is in the bath, does your DD splash with both her legs? This is how my mum realised that both me and my sis had dislocations. If you are at all concerned, ask for a referral to Orthopaedics.

Due to our family history, I was very aware of looking for this sort of thing in my DD, and as she was a very late crawler (14 months) and walker (21 months), we went to see an Orthopaedic Specialist a couple of times, but thankfully all was fine.

thanks tatty. No she doesn't splash her legs. For a long time she would pull up her legs if you tried to stand her.

I do have 4 older children and never come across this before.
