Antibiotics cause diarrhoea, don't they?

DS on ABs for an eye infection, has had diarrhoea twice now since started them, that is normal isn't it? How soon after stopping will it go?

It is very common yes, lots of yoghurt will help. It should go away not too long after he has come off them but it can take a little while for the bacteria to go back to normal levels in the gut. Don't be surprised if it is a little worse just after stopping before getting better.

Poor T, eye infections are horrible. Do you still usually have a day off during the week? Must get together.

It can really upset the gut. If yoghurt isn't helping and it won't settle down you can try acidophollus (sp?) in powder form. I've used this with mine and it seems to help. I always take it after AB'S anyway.

I'll have a look for that powder thanks (holland and barrett or a chemists?) and will stuff yoghurt into him as well. TBH it's not that bad, quite mild really, just wanted to check

Poo. We are pretty free and easy really, W is in creche on a Tuesday still. Let me know when you have time off and we'll sort something out around the social swirl that is toddler group, story time etc!
