Hi
This is the fisrt time I have posted I have a 9 month old DS2 who was diagnosed with this 2 days after he was born after he failed feed and didn't poo and had found to have a bowel obstruction. He was rushed an hour and half away to specialist childrens hospital where they cleared obstruction without surgery but was diagnosed with hirschsprungs where there is no nerves in the bottom end of the bowel a few days later after having biopsy.
He was in hospital nearly 2 weeks before being discharged and had to have daily bowel washouts before they could operate when he was 6 weeks old. Had pull through operation which lasted about 6 hours by key hole surgery and only left with 2 tiny scars.
He is perfectly normal now and the only thing the doctor has said is that he may have problems with constipation or opposite when he is older but will be monitored until he is potty trained.
Would be interested to hear from anyone else with any experience of this..
